Jack Bercov Memorial Prize Awardee 2024

Ms Emilija Mitrovic was awarded the Jack Bercov Memorial prize on 02 April 2024. This cash prize is awarded each year to the most outstanding third year medical student at the University of Western Australia. In her acceptance speech Emilija described the travails of her early life after arriving in Australia from Serbia at the age of 5 not speaking a word of English. She applied herself from day one to receive a good education and chose to study medicine as a way of giving back to society for the opportunities she had been given after arriving in Australia.

What's happening at our meetings?

Tuesday 23 April 7.00am. A return to the Leederville Sporting Club for a discussion on club activities for 2024-2025.

Tuesday 07 May 7.00am. Our guest speaker will be Mr Allen Graham who has recently published a book on the early history of Fremantle (and WA), titled "Inns and Outs of Fremantle"

Tuesday 14 May. 6.00pm. Toms Italian restaurant, 1 N Beach Rd, North Beach WA. Bruce Dufty will discuss his activities with aboriginal communities in Leonora.
